Not as much on the web site

May 18, 2009 - Chuck Hunt
Our Register web page readers may see a little difference on the site this week. For the past several months we have experimented with putting much of our news, sports and features on the site. This week we are going back to just putting some of our print version on the site, and not quite every article will appear. We still will feature four top news stories and four sports articles, but we will not have every single issues articles, as we have been doing lately. I fully realize that if some of you have been checking the web site every week, you will be disappointed that not as much is on it as there has been in the recent months. But it is a decision we have made to try cutting back some. That is not to say there isn't going to be a lot on it. There still will be major news stories, quite a bit of sports, all obituraries, all public notices, and often a feature item or two. The popular poll question will still be there as well. In fact, the change may be so subtle that many readers wouldn't notice it unless they read this blog and have it pointed out to them. We also have some plans to add an item or two which does not appear in the print version and will only be on the web. Most newspapers are in the same quandry we are. How much of our product (news) do we give away for free on the web site, before it starts to hurt sales of our print version? Someday we may figure it all out. Until then, stay tuned.
