Has heck frozen over?

August 18, 2009 - Chuck Hunt
Brett Favre is a Minnesota Viking? I never thought I would live to see the day. Neither did a lot of other people. But it came to pass today. Like many others, my e-mail inbox was jammed with messages from friends and relatives. Talk about a hot must have been the number one topic on Tuesday at every office and work place in the state. In Wisconsin as well, I would certainly imagine. My mother and brother live near Green Bay and report that it is a hot topic as well. Some cheeseheads are in shock that their beloved Brett Favre is going to wear purple and play against the Packers. Other Packer fans, so they report, say they really don't care. For me, a Vikings fan since 1968, it is almost impossible to imagine what it is going to be like to see Brett playing against the Pack in the Metrodome. But I will certainly be watching. In wide-eyed wonder. I actually thought Sage did a good job at quarterback in the opening preseason game. And I guess I haven't actually heard if Brett is the starter. But then, if the Vikes are paying him $12 mil a year, it wouldn't be to sit on the bench. On the other hand, I am not sure Brett can haul his soon to be 40 year old body around the field for a whole season. So we might see Sage or Tavaris before the year is over. In the meantime, there is more talk about the Vikings right now than there has been in years. Now if the talk can just be backed up with a little action.
