Hot and sunny in Blue Earth

March 13, 2012 - Chuck Hunt
What is going on here? Today, Tuesday, March 13, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, there are people walking up and down the streets in shorts, numerous motorcycles have driven by and a convertible just pulled up in front of the post office downtown. In Minnesota. In Blue Earth. In March. It isn’t even the middle of March yet. And the weather is supposed to get nothing but better the rest of the week. It is going to be in the 70s for five straight days in Blue Earth, or so the weatherman says. Records are going to be broken all week long. People are golfing, biking, and enjoying many summer type activities. Next thing you know, the Blue Earth Pool is going to announce an early opening. This is crazy. Ken Queensland reports his tulips are up in his yard and they are 6 to 8 inches tall. In Minnesota. In March. Early March. What is going on? Global warming? Maybe. But, probably not. I keep track of the temperatures in places where my family members are located. In Modesto, California, it is going to be in the 50s and 60s for highs this week, and rainy. In Blue Earth, Minnesota, it is going to be in the 70s all week and sunny. What is wrong with this picture? Pretty soon those Californians will be flocking to Minnesota for the beautiful weather. Not to mention the fact that gasoline is approaching $4.50 per gallon there, and is under $3.70 a gallon here (at least for now!) It is a crazy world. That’s all for now...gotta go run and work on my tan....
