Change is inevitable

March 20, 2012 - Chuck Hunt
You can file this under the heading, “You heard it here first.” We here at the Register are saddened with the departure of our reporter, Sam Jefson. Sam was only here less than one year, but he did a great job for us. He wrote some great stories, from hard news to features to sports. But, he had the opportunity to go and work for his hometown newspaper in Forest City, Iowa, and made that jump. His last day here at the Register was last Friday, March 16. We will miss him, not just for his writing ability but also for his smiling outlook on everything. We wish him well in his new job and we know he will continue to do well there. You might be wondering if we are going to replace him and the answer is yes. We have hired a new reporter to help us cover the news of Faribault County. Lacey Sawatzky, of Isle, will be starting work at the Register this next Monday, March 26. She has been working at the Mille Lacs Messenger in Isle and is a graduate of Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. We are excited to have her joining our staff. We know our readers will enjoy reading her stories.
