No Spring Fever here

March 25, 2013 - Chuck Hunt
I don’t know about you, but this is one year where I definitely don’t have Spring Fever. Not even close. Last year, with temperatures in the 80s, I was thinking about mowing my lawn and maybe trying to get in some golf. My neighbor Don had a lot of his garden planted and some radishes popping up. Not this year. You would need a blow torch and a jackhammer to be able to plant anything. Here we are having Holy week and it feels a whole lot more like Christmas out there than it does Easter. And, we are busy here at the Register working on our Spring Sports Preview stories. That feels a little weird too, what with snow on the ground. But the first out door track meet is this week. Wonder if they have added cross country skiing to the track events... With my lawn still covered by snow, temperatures barely hitting the freezing mark and a nice raw wind whipping through the town, it is pretty much impossible to have any amount of Spring Fever in any way shape or form. I’m sure spring will arrive sometime, but it may be a ways off yet. Or else this might be one of those years where we go right from winter to summer, with very little spring-type weather. We will go right to heat, humidity and bugs, in just a one or two day period. But like usual, we will just have to wait and see. Because, we can’t do a thing about the weather. Other than complain about it...
