Boys claim 2nd place at track meet

The Blue Earth Area boys track and field team was second in a six-team field at the St. James Invite held Thursday, April 7.

The Bucs placed three in the top five in the pole vault competition.

Jake Zebedee finished first clearing a height of 12 feet, followed by Santos Flores in second place with 11 feet. Travis Hagedorn was fifth with a vault of 9 feet, 6 inches.

Zebedee showed his versatility by winning the 400-meter dash in 54.1 seconds.

Taking first place in the 100-meter dash was Isaac Darrington with a time of 11.9 seconds, while Nick Beattie was third in 12.1 seconds.

Darrington also was fourth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 8 inches.

Flores added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 37 feet, 2 inches.

In the shot put, Sam Lee’s toss of 43 feet was the third best overall.

Hagedorn’s time of 18.7 was good for fifth place in the 110-meter high hurdles.

Jake Wagner took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.5, while Riley Holmseth claim third place in the 3,200-meter run in 11:03.8.

Two BEA relays took first place and another was second.

The foursome of Trey Dyslin, Taylor Olson, Jacob Olson and Isaac Darrington passed the baton in 45.6 second to win the 4 x 100.

The 4 x 400 squad of Jacob Olson (53.5), Kysten Zierke (58.9), Jake Zebedee (55.0) and Trey Dyslin (55.2) covered four laps in 3:41.1 for a first-place finish.

Taking second in the 4 x 200 in 1:36.6 were Dyslin (24.0), Zierke (25.2), Beattie (24.0) and Jacob Olson (23.4).
