Two Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls golf team members made the cut in the Sub-Section South Golf Meet and advanced to the Section 2AA Golf Tournament.
Autumn Drake and Allie Curtis will compete in the section meet set for Thursday, June 2 at Creek’s Bend Golf Course in New Prague.
Drake led the Buccaneers with a 96 (47-49) on the Waseca Lakeside Golf Course.
Curtis shot a 103 (52-51) and made the qualifying score cut off mark to advance.
“Autumn was pretty solid from start to finish to have the seventh best score of the day,” Coach Al Cue says. “Allie had trouble at times with her short game, but fought her way to a qualifying score.”
Natali Fellows shot a 118 (53-65) and Aeli Olson a 126 (64-62) which added to the Buccaneer team total of 443.
Other BEA scores were a 128 (63-65) for Anna Aukes and a 131 (71-60) for Emily Davids.
“Natali played her best on her first nine and struggled on the back,” the coach says. “She really improved during the season. Aeli, Anna and Emily played some holes very well, but had trouble with consistency.”
Overall, the Buc coach says he thought the girls played well for the day.
“It wasn’t our best score of the season,” Cue says. “But it is a score that shows a lot of improvement from early in the year.”
The Bucs’ 443 tally put them in fifth place among the nine teams competing.
Fairmont won the meet with a 387 and Mankato East came in second with a 392. Those two teams will compete in the team portion of the Section 2AA Golf Meet in New Prague.
“It has been an enjoyable season working with these great young ladies,” Coach Cue says in conclusion.
