Girls take 1st at indoor meet
Balanced scoring helped the Buc girls to a first-place finish at an indoor quadrangular track and field meet held March 30 at Minnesota State University in Mankato.
Blue Earth Area won eight of 16 events.
Senior Marissia Hagedorn had three first-place finishes.
She won the pole vault competition, clearing a height of 10 feet. Teammate Rowan Hacken was fifth with 6-6, which also places her No. 9 on the Honor Roll List.
Sydney Henningsen’s vault of 6 feet was good for seventh place and No. 10 on the Honor Roll.
In the 55-meter high hurdles, Hagedorn broke the tape in 8.8 seconds to claim first place.
Taylor Grandgenett’s time of 9.8 seconds was fifth overall and also No. 4 all-time indoors.
Taking sixth-place was Chante Anderson with a time of 10.2 seconds. That also gives her the No. 8 spot indoors.
Hagedorn also won the 55-meter low hurdles in 8.9 seconds. Grandgenett turned in a third-place time of 9.5 seconds and also claimed the No. 3 ranking on the Honor Roll.
Krista Hassing took first place in the triple jump with a mark of 33 feet, 3 3/4 inches.
She also won the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:20.7, which gives her the No. 1 ranking indoors.
Taylor Grandgenett also was fourth in the 800-meter run with 2:39.7.
Hassing added a third-place performance in the high jump by clearing a height of 4 feet, 8 inches.
Shayna Stevermer cleared the bar at 4 feet, 8 inches to take fourth and the No. 9 indoors.
In the long jump, Karli Olsen was fifth with a leap of 14 feet, 2 inches.
Olsen also won the 400-meter dash in 63.5 seconds. That ranks her No. 4 indoors. Stevermer was second with 67.7 and taking third was Skylee Bell in 69.5.
Ann Franta grabbed second place in the 200-meter dash in 28.2 seconds, which puts her No. 3 on the Honor Roll.
Bell finished third in 29.3, while Frannie Tetzlaff was sixth with 29.6 to move into the No. 9 spot indoors.
In the 55-meter dash, Franta was clocked in 7.6 seconds to take first place and claim the No. 5 ranking indoors.
Courtney Grandgenett turned in a second-place time of 13:09.1 in the 3,200-meter run. The Buc senior is now No. 3 on the Honor Roll.
Mariah Halvorson was third in 13:30.1, which ranks her eighth overall indoors.
In the 1,6000-meter run, Signe Olson crossed the finish line in 6:10.9 to take third place.
The 4 x 400-meter relay not only took first place but also the top spot on the Honor Roll.
The foursome of Karli Olsen (64.1), Stevermer (67.1), Franta (64.9) and Krista Hassing (60.6) posted a winning time of 4:17.2.
BEA took second in the 4 x 800-meter relay with a time of 11:09.7.
Members of the squad are Courtney Grandgenett (2:40.1), Kaitlyn Olsen (2:40.6), Athena Peterson (2:53.6) and Riley Mack (2:55.6).
