Two Blue Earth Area Buccaneer sophomores were named to the 2012 South Central Conference Coaches All-Conference Girls Tennis team this fall.

And, both attained their all-conference status by different means.

The Bucs No. 1 singles player, Karleigh Wolff, made the list by scoring points throughout the season in conference matches.

Kaitlyn Olson, the Buccaneer's No. 4 singles player, won a spot on the all-conference team list by virtue of winning a SCC Individual Championship.

Players are scored with points during conference matches according to the position played and for matches won.

Wolff was seventh on the all-conference list (out of 19 players) with 28 points.

"Karleigh plays the best player from every school all season long," Coach Terry Barnes says. "So she plays upper level players every match. Her overall record of 10-14 for the season doesn't truly reflect where she is skill-wise."

Barnes says Wolff's forehand is a serious weapon, and her backhand is much better than the previous year.

"She is just a sophomore and can still improve each year," Barnes says. "She did an excellent job of representing us at the No. 1 spot all season. She has worked hard, stepped up and wanted to play at this spot.

Olson won all five of her conference matchups through the season, and ended the year with a 21-4 record.

"Kaitlyn played very well all year and took every opportunity at the No. 4 spot this season," Barnes says. "I am sure she will strive to be in a higher spot on the team next year."

The coach says Olson has an excellent serve, and it is only getting better and better.

"Her front strokes are very good and she knows how to return the ball well," the coach says.

The Buccaneer team also received another post-season honor.

BEA assistant girls tennis coach Konny Wolff was named Girls' Assistant Tennis Coach of the Year for Section 2A by the head coaches in the section.

Konny (Skaare) Wolff placed second in the State Class A Tennis Tournament in the fall of 1979 under coach Hal Schroeder.
