It was all a big lie

By Staff | Jun 9, 2013

What happens when you lie??You usually get caught.

On Monday, May 27, an employee from the Super 8 Motel in Blue Earth called the police to report an armed robbery that had just taken place. She even described the suspect and said he left with an unspecified amount of cash.

As it turns out, she was lying. The employee, identified as Tammy Beam, now admits that she stole the money herself and falsely reported an armed robbery to law enforcement officers, according to information from the Blue Earth Police Department.

Through their investigation of the incident, police officers determined the employee had lied about the robbery.

Beam is expected to be charged by the Faribault County Attorney’s Office with theft and falsely report-ing a crime. The maximum penalty for each is not more than 90 days in jail, payment of a fine of not more than $1,000 or both.
