Marie Zielske, 91

Guckeen Marie Zielske, age 91, of Guckeen, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Parker Oaks in Winnebago.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Wes Hafner officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church.

Marie was born Nov. 13, 1921, in rural Elmore, the daughter of Henry and Florella (Krosch) Grimmelman. Marie graduated from Elmore High School in 1937 and was married to Elmer L. Zielske on Aug. 20, 1939, in Ledyard, Iowa. Marie was a homemaker and wife and concentrated on raising her children before becoming a Christian Day School Teacher at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. She taught at the church school for many years and was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. The church was important to her and she was active in the Ladies Aide, Choir, LWML,?Bell Choir and in other capacities. She also served on the Verona Township Extension, Blue Earth Valley Concert Association and volunteered at the hospital gift shop. Marie was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed knitting, hardanger, gardening and canning produce.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Myrna Fish, of Scituate, Mass., and Susan (Fred) Drexler, of Lakeville; son, Daniel Zielske, of Mankato; brother, Rodger (Mavis) Grimmelman, of LeSeuer; sisters, Rose Steinbach, of Hugo, and Mavis (Gus) Olson, of Elmore; grandchildren, Lauren (Steven) Lowing, Andrew (Judith) Drexler, and Katharine (Caleb) Drexler Booth; seven great-grandchildren, Sophie, Sam, Emily, Macy, Katelin, Isabel, and Benjamin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer, in 1991; an infant son, Barry; sister, Lavila Mair; and nephew, Larry Mair.
