There will be a new face in the Wells Area Chamber of Commerce office, filling a void that was left for nearly a year.

Emily Reyerson, of Alden, is the newest chamber executive, but she is not new to town.

"I worked at the Wells Mirror and Wells Shopper," she says. "I?know a lot of people in town from that."

Since she has only been on the job for a couple of weeks, she is still learning the ropes.

However, she is excited to continue to get more and more involved in the community through her new role.

"I look forward to increased chamber involvement and making the most out of everyone's memberships,"?she says.

There are 61 chamber members and Reyerson is hoping to get more.

"I also hope for the chamber to sponsor more events in the community,"?she adds.

But right now she is focusing on getting all caught up with things after a year without a chamber executive.

Reyerson went to high school in Alden and graduated from South Central College in Mankato in 2011.

"I got my degree in graphic communications there," she explains.

She currently resides in Alden with her fiance, Matt Hassing.

Reyerson says she enjoys the city of Wells and the idea of networking and meeting new people, so this position seemed perfect.

However there is an additional perk with her new role ideal office hours.

"I own my own photography and graphic design business in Alden,"?Reyerson explains. "So once I'm done with work at the chamber I still have time to put into my studio."

Reyerson says she is looking forward to getting out and visiting with the members of the chamber and working with the chamber board.

"I want to be out and about in town,"?she says. "I?want to make sure all of our members are happy."

The chamber board consists of Ila Teskey, Mary Emory, Brad Heggen, Steve Burns, Deb Redman, Bob Johannsen, Zoa Heckman, Nancy Barnd and Jason Niebuhr.

"Next year the vice president will be moving up to the president position,"?Reyerson says. Teskey is the current president but next year Emory will take her place.

"Everyone on the board is so nice to work with," Reyerson adds. "That makes this transition a little easier."

She is excited to be the executive and says it seems others in town are happy to have her in the chamber office.

"Everyone seems excited so that's a good thing,"?Reyerson says. "And I'm excited that I'm back working in Wells."

The chamber office will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Anyone interested in more information can contact the office during those hours by calling (507) 553-6450 or e-mailing wellscc@bevcomm.net.
