John A. Yahnke, 23

Dec 13, 2013

Frost John A. Yahnke, age 23, of Frost, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, in a motor vehicle accident near Frost.

Funeral Services were held on Dec. 8, 2013, at Patton Funeral Home, in Blue Earth.

John was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Marv and Shirley Yahnke on June 19, 1990. At three years old, he and his family moved to Frost. As a baby and child, John was a deep thinker, observant, and loved people. He was a people watcher and wanted to know how things worked. By the time he was a preschooler, he showed mechanical aptitude like Grandpa Dale Yahnke and Uncle Paul Super. Growing up, John was a risk-taker who knew what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to go after it.

John attended Blue Earth Area High School and played football. He loved health and fitness, his body was his temple and he loved to show it off. He loved to lift weights in the weight room at school and also at home. He and his brother, Daniel, enjoyed wrestling each other and rough-housing. John loved to listen to a variety of music and watch movies. Johnny also was great with technology, especially computers. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and his dream was to get a 10-point buck. After high school, John knew he wanted to move to the cities, so he did. He made many friends in the process. He loved all of his friends and would take the time to invest in them. During the Summer of 2013, John wanted to move back with his family so that he could attend trade school to become a welder.

Everyone who knew John would say that he was kind, caring and charismatic person. He loved to encourage others and took many under his wing. He was generous even when he didn’t have much to give. He literally would give you the shirt off of his back, if he knew it would help you. He became a brother and friend to everyone he met. He could meet someone and five minutes later, he’d know their life story and have their phone number with a genuine promise to call and hang out.

John will be deeply missed by all those who encountered him. We love you, Johnny.

Survivors include his parents, Marvin and Shirley Yahnke, of Frost; brother, Daniel (Nina) Yahnke, of Harper, Iowa; sisters, Rebekah (Robby) Thoren, of Perry, Iowa, and Larissa Yahnke, of Frost; and grandfather, John Super, of Northeast Minneapolis.
