Douglas “Bud” L. Piuser

Bakersfield, Calif. Doug "Bud" Piuser passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.

A Memorial was held on April 23, 2014, at Christ the King Church in Bakersfield, Calif. Interment was at Green Lawn Cemetery, Bakersfield.

Bud was born in Blue Earth on March 26, 1931, the second child of C. Douglas and Mary Piuser. He attended Blue Earth High School, participating in baseball, track, and the cheer squad. Bud always recalled his hometown fondly. After graduating Bud enlisted in the Navy on Dec. 7, 1949, and served aboard the USS Rendova during the Korean War and for the Operation Ivy nuclear testing in the Marshall Islands. As a young sailor he was stationed in Chicago and at a USO dance met the love of his life, Carol.?They married on Dec. 27, 1952. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Bud and Carol lived in Minnesota, Chicago, and various places in California before settling in Thousand Oaks, Calif., in 1964. By then they had started their family and had five children. Bud would also begin his career working for the federal government at Pt. Magu NAS. Bud, Carol, and kids would enjoy many vacations in Bud's favorite place, Yellowstone National Park. After retirement Bud and Carol worked in Yellowstone for 12 years. Bud was a gregarious man who made and kept life-long friends easily. He will be truly missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend. Bud is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 61 years; three sisters, Phyllis (Jim) Nesler, Pat Ray, and Donna (Rich) Maringer; five children, Doug (Gloria) Piuser, Connie (Larry) Provoncha, Sherry (Larry) Jensen, David (Antoinette) Piuser, and Steven (Debbie) Piuser; 17 grandchildren and spouses and 11 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.
