Duane J. Franklin, 78

Winnebago Duane John Franklin, age 78, of Winnebago, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Thomas Butler officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation time will be one hour before the service at the church.

He was born Oct. 18, 1936, at Winnebago, the son of John Mildred (Gray) Franklin. He graduated from Winnebago High School in 1954. On Dec. 2, 1961 he married Opal Marie Groves at the First Baptist Church in Winnebago. He farmed in the Winnebago area for over 50 years until retiring at the age of 68.

Duane was very active in the church serving on many boards, as a Sunday School Teacher, served on the Winnebago Township Board, and served on the Faribault County Soil and Water Conservation Board.

He is survived by his wife, Opal Franklin, of Winnebago; daughters, Judi (Timothy) Hynes, of Winnebago, Janet (Will) Charlesworth, of San Angelo, Texas; sons, David (Amber) Franklin, of Winnebago, Mark (Melinda) Franklin, of Harrisburg, S.D.; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, and Johnathon Hynes, of Winnebago, William Charlesworth, of San Angelo, Morgan and Conor Franklin, of Winnebago; sister, Shirley Rumsey, of Wells, and four step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
