Buc tennis team falls to St. James, New Ulm

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer tennis team pulled out one match win last Tuesday night in their Big South Conference contest with the St. James Saints.

Martin Granados Jr. pulled out a three set victory for the Bucs at the No. 3 singles position.

After defeating Brandon Johnson 6-4 in the first set, Granados fell by the same 6-4 score in the second set. But, he pulled out a 6-3 win in the third set to pull out the win.

Chandler Kienitz fell 6-4, 6-1 to John Foss at No. 1 singles. Jaron King lost 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles to Sandin Skoh. And, at No. 4 singles, Spencer Petersen lost 6-0, 6-1 to Daniel Coleman.

In doubles action, Parker Kienitz and Spenser Timmerman teamed up at No. 1 doubles and were defeated by Saint seniors Colin Hoppe and Cole Skow, 6-0, 6-0.

The Buc duo of Mason Hehr and Dylan Herfindahl lost 6-3, 6-0, to Cameron Giese and Brandon Hjelmer at No. 2 doubles.

At No. 3 doubles, Adam Buseman and Jonathan Hill lost 6-0, 6-1, to Saint seniors Jacob Carr and Thor Henderson.

New Ulm 7, BEA 0

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer tennis team struggled against a talented New Ulm Eagle squad on Friday afternoon, May 1.

The mostly younger maroon and gold team lost 7-0 to the Eagles on the Bucs’ home courts.

BEA has five players who are ninth grade or younger, while New Ulm sported six seniors on its roster.

BEA’s No. 2 doubles team of Mason Hehr and Dylan Herfindahl gave two Eagles seniors a run, but ended up losing 6-2, 7-5 to Nick Gvogel and John Goodall.

At No. 1 doubles, Spencer Petersen and Parker Kienitz lost 6-0, 6-0, to Josh Koelpin and Joel Koelpin. And at No. 3 doubles, Spenser Timmerman and Adam Buseman lost to Kelby Stocker and Andrew Goodall by the same 6-0, 6-0, score.

Chandler Kienitz lost to Cavin Collum 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, and Jaron King fell 6-1, 6-1 to Nic Gartner at No. 2 singles.

At No. 3 singles, BEA’s Martin Granados Jr. lost 6-1, 6-3, to Tim Haag. Seventh grader Jonathan Hill fell to senior Noah Stocker 6-0, 6-0, at No.4 singles.
