BE is the 13-60 Blue Division champ

The Blue Earth Pirates hosted the Wells Wildcats last weekend for the final round of the 13-60 League Blue Division playoffs. Garrett Anderson and Lee Hodges both took turns at bat for the Pirates helping their team toward the 12-0 victory.

The Blue Earth Pirates are the league champions after they defeated the Wells Wildcats 12-0.

Blue Earth hosted Wells in the final round of the 13-60 League Blue Division Playoffs last Sunday.

Because of their win, the Pirates advanced as the No. 1-seeded team in the Region Playoffs which began this Saturday.

The final game of the Blue Division Playoff pitted the Wildcats against the Pirates in what turned out to be a very easy victory for the Blue Earth team.

The Pirates took an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning and bringing in seven more in the second.

They continued to score throughout the game, tallying a run in the fifth and two more in the seventh.

All the while, the Wildcats were unable to bring any players across home plate, leaving them at zero for the whole game.

Aaron Wendt pitched for six innings, facing 25 batters. He allowed five hits, one walk and no runs. He also threw seven strikeouts.

Dallas Barslou took the mound for the remaining inning. He pitched to four batters and allowed only one base on balls.

Brandyn Olsen scored three runs for the Pirates. He was 2 for 2 at bat and took one base on balls. He also accounted for one RBI.

John Franta was 2 for 4 batting and scored two runs. He also stole a base in the second inning.

Lee Hodges was 3 for 4 at bat for the Pirates and scored two runs. He also accounted for three RBI and two doubles.

Trent Sonnicksen took one base on balls in the second inning when he also scored one run for the Pirates.

TJ Schmidtke was 1 for 4 batting and scored one run.

Bob Olson was 2 for 3 at bat and had two RBI and two doubles. He scored one run in the second when he hit one of his doubles.

Garrett Anderson stepped up to the plate for the Pirates as well. He was 1 for 2 at bat and scored one run.

David Franta was 1 for 1 batting and scored one run.

The victory for the Pirates means they are the 2015 13-60 League Blue Division Champions and advanced on to the first round of the Region Playoffs.

The first game of the Region Playoffs began on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 1 p.m. against the Kato Cubs.

That game was played after the Faribault County Register deadline, results will be featured in the next issue.

The winner of that game will move on to the next round which will be played on Aug. 9 at 4 p.m.
