By Staff | Mar 27, 2016

Three Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls basketball players were selected to the Big South Conference All-Conference lists last week.

Caitlin Rorman was on the BSC All-Conference East Division list, while Paige Darrington and Taylor Grandgenett were on the BSC East Division Honorable Mention list.

Here is look at each of the Buccaneers selected.

Caitlin Rorman

Rorman, the 5-foot-10 freshman phenom forward was a standout for the Bucs this past season.

Rorman’s overall stats had her scoring 326 points for a 12.5 points per game average. She also grabbed 99 rebounds for a 3.8 rebounds per game average.

She also had 23 assists and 45 steals.

“Caitlin really had a solid season, especially for a freshman,” Buccaneer coach Al Cue says. “She became more confident and comfortable as the season progressed.”

In the BSC games the Bucs played in, Rorman had 137 points (13.7 points per game average), 40 rebounds (4.0 rebounds per game average), 11 assists and 13 steals.

“She does many things well on the court,” coach Cue adds. “She is going to have a great career.”

Paige Darrington

The 5-foot-8 senior forward was a rebounding machine for the Bucs, grabbing 178 during the season for a 6.8 rebounds per game average.

Darrington also scored 154 points for a 5.9 per game average and had 36 assists and 54 steals.

In BSC games, Darrington scored 56 points (5.6 per game), had 83 rebounds (8.2 per game), 18 assists and 15 steals.

“Paige has been an important part of the varsity program for four years, playing in over 90 varsity games,” coach Cue says. “Even though undersized, she was an excellent post player and an excellent rebounder. Paige has a knack for knowing where the rebound is going and being there to get it.”

Taylor Grandgenett

“Taylor has been our point guard for four years,” Buc coach Cue says. “We will miss her ability to run the team next year.”

The 5-foot-7 senior guard scored 182 points last season for a 7.0 points per game average. She also nabbed 39 rebounds.

But, her leadership was with 56 assists and having 40 steals.

“Like Paige, Taylor has played in over 90 varsity games,” the Buc mentor adds. “She has been our ‘coach on the floor.’ Plus, other teams had to constantly worry about her driving to the basket for a layup.”

During the Bucs’ games against BSC opponents, Grandgenett scored 71 points (7.1 per game), had 39 rebounds (1.5 per game), 18 assists (1.8 per game) and 15 steals (1.5 per game).
