Savage James B. Hannaman, Sr., of Savage, formerly of Blue Earth, passed away at the age of 82, at the VA medical Center, on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017. A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at the South Blue Earth Church. Pastor Arne Halbakken presided.
On June 23, 1934 in Blue Earth, Emil and Emma (Humberg) Hannaman celebrated the birth of their son, James Benjamin Hannaman. During the Korean War, James served as a mechanic on an Essex-class air craft carrier. Upon returning to the states, James worked at Green Giant in Savage for almost 40 years. He also served in the Savage police reserves from 1965-1972. In the 70s, James became involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He served as the Assistant Scout Master for the Savage Boy Scouts Troop #445.
James' generosity and kind attitude will be remembered forever by his wife, JoAnn B. (Roberts) Hannaman; children, Anthony Hannaman, Mary Welch, James Jr. (Diane) Hannaman, Curt (Mary) Hannaman; grandchildren, Krystina Hannaman, Jozy Brink, Elizabeth (John) Prechel, Josh Hannaman, Kyle Welch, Alex Hannaman, Timothy Hannaman Casandra Hannaman; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Prechel, Ronan Prechel; siblings, Marian Hagel, Caroline (Paul) Heidorn, Fritz (Ginny) Hannaman, Anna Vanderpool; many relatives and friends
Preceded in death and there to welcome James home are his parents; brothers, Paul (Fran) Hannaman and Richard Hannaman.
