Wilma Thisius

Wells Wilma Darlene Thisius, age 91, of Wells, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at UHD Hospital in Blue Earth. A memorial service was held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, Pr. Mary Iverson officiated. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.

Wilma Darlene was born March 15, 1926 in Verona Township, Faribault County, the daughter of William and Rebecca (Fitz) Forbes. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Wilma attended Winnebago Public School for two years after she finished country school in Verona Township. She was united in marriage to Gerald Thisius June 19, 1947 in Wells, and to this union four children were born. Wilma worked in Wells at the Archway Bar and Caf, Pines Ballroom, Musser and Company, the Hemp Plant and hung wallpaper in many homes and businesses in the area. She was an avid fisherman through the years. Her main interest was in people, she liked to spend time with them, talking and learning as much as she could. Wilma visited friends at The Shepherd’s Inn and Parkview. She was interested in most sports and attended as many events as she could for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wilma’s family was her greatest joy. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she participated in Love Circle, was on the Funeral Committee, Quilters and Senior Saints. Wilma was also a member of the Senior Citizens and Legion Auxiliary.

Wilma is survived by her children, Jerelyn (Ken) Eckhardt of Minnesota Lake, and their family, Emily (Boyd) Redinbaugh and children, Nora and Nowell of Omaha, Nebraska, Jeff Eckhardt and daughter, Hattie Olson of Wells; Wayne (Cheryl) Thisius of Cottage Grove, and their family, Aimee (Mike) Kokesh and children, Connor and Ella Kokesh of Minnetrista, Shawn Thisius and daughter, Jenesis Thisius of Menomonie, Wisconsin; Gary (Judy) Thisius of Shoreview, and their family; sisters-in-law: Joan Thisius of Concord, California, and Elaine Larson of Bremerton, Washington; many nieces and nephews and their families.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald in 1989; daughter, Julaine in 1972; 10 sisters; two brothers; six brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law.
