Bucs down two BSC foes last week

BEA blanks both New Ulm, Fairmont, 3-0, for a 4-1 BSC record

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer volleyball team finished up their Big South Conference season with a 3-0 sweep of the Fairmont Cardinals last Thursday night, giving them a 4-1 BSC record for the season.

Their overall record improved to 8-5. They still have quite a few matches left in the season before post-season competition begins.

The Bucs downed the Cards by scores of 25-16, 25-23, 25-16. Only the second game was very close.

Maddi Oelke had another outstanding night for the Bucs as she nailed 10 kills during the match, as well as five digs and two ace blocks.

Hannah Johnson and Lindsey Norman each added six kills to the Bucs' total, while Norman also recorded six digs and four ace blocks, as well as going 11 of 14 at the service line with two aces and eight game points.

It was Samantha Naumann who led at the service line by going 14 of 15, with two ace serves and 10 service points, as well as having six digs.

It was also an outstanding performance by Sophie Blair, who had a team leading 11 digs to go with her five kills and her 13 of 15 serving, four ace serves and nine service points.

Alissa Norman had another great night of set assists, this time tallying 26, as well as two ace blocks at the net.

While their official BSC competition is over, the Bucs will still play some conference foes, including this week when they travel to Waseca on Monday, then off to St. Peter on Thursday.

They will host area teams at an invitational on Saturday.

BEA 3, New Ulm 0

It was another Big South Conference win for the Blue Earth Area Buccaneer volleyball team when they took down the New Ulm Eagles in three games last Tuesday night in New Ulm.

Two of the three games were pretty close, but the BEA girls pulled out the sweep by scores of 25-22, 25-15, 25-21.

BEA's Sofie Blair had an outstanding night as she racked up 13 kills and 12 digs, to go along with a perfect night at the serving line, 12 of 12 with six service points.

Lindsey Norman also had 12 digs, along with eight kills and a 10 of 11 serving rate, with two ace serves and six points.

Alissa Norman had nine digs and two ace blocks to go with her 28 set assists. She also was 12 of 13 serving with an ace and six points.

Maddi Oelke had four kills, eight digs, one ace block and was also a perfect 12 of 12 from the service line, with an ace and eight service points.

It was Samantha Nauman who led the way at the service line, however, with her 15 of 16 performance, with two ace serves and 10 service points.

The win put BEA's record at 7-5 for the season, with a 5-1 record in the BSC.
