Dorothy Richardson, 82

Formerly of Elmore Dorothy Richardson passed away on Oct. 2, 2017 from pneumonia and other breathing complications. She had just recently celebrated her 82nd birthday.

Dorothy was born on Sept. 25, 1935 to Arthur and Julia Zachariason in Blue Earth, and was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters. Dorothy graduated from Elmore High School in 1954 and worked several jobs in the restaurant industry. In 1960, she married Harold Richardson and for the next 50 years, they built a life together. She and Harold lived in Elmore and were active in the community until 2009, when they moved to Oklahoma City to be closer to their son, Mike and his family.

Dorothy was a long time member of Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, knitting dishrags (which she gave out as Christmas presents), reading and working puzzles. In Oklahoma City, Dorothy lived at the Village at Oakwood assisted living facility and was active in the resident's council as well.

She is preceded in death by both parents; two sisters, Clara Mueller and Ardis Rittenhouse; two brothers, Sherdell and Gerald Zachariason; husband, Harold Richardson.

She is survived by her son, Mike (Jo) Richardson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Ethel (Paul) Christiansen of Lake Mills, Iowa; brother, Arden Zachariason of Manteca, California; one grandson, Joshua (Joshalyn) Richardson of Anchorage Alaska; two granddaughters, Shannon (Garry) Chapman of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Rhiannon (Russell) Webb of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; two great-granddaughters, Isabel and Eva Webb of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and two great-grandsons, Liam and Leo Richardson of Anchorage, Alaska.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Jones IOOF Cemetery in Jones, Oklahoma, interment followed at the same location. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Diabetes Association.
