Varsity and JV boys and girls ready for holiday hoops

The 24th annual Blue Earth Area Holiday Basketball Tournament will tip off on Thursday, Dec. 28, and wrap up on the following day, Friday, Dec. 29. The two-day hardwood tournament will feature boys and girls teams from four schools.

All varsity games will be played at BEA High School, while the JV teams will be competing at the middle school.

On Thursday, United South Central will square off against Jackson County Central in a varsity girls showdown at 1 p.m. The varsity boys teams of both schools will soon follow at 3 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m., Blue Earth Area will take on Granada-Huntley-East Chain-Truman-Martin Luther in a girls varsity match-up. Boys varsity action between both schools will follow at 7:30 p.m.

On Dec. 29, the girls varsity consolation game will be at 1 p.m., with the tournament championship game to follow at 3 p.m. Meanwhile, the varsity boys consolation game will take place at 5:30 p.m. The tournament title game for boys varsity begins at 7:30 p.m.

On the JV schedule, USC and JCC will start things up with a boys contest at 1 p.m. on Thursday. The JV girls from both sides are slated for tip-off at 3 p.m.

BEA’s JV boys will take the court against GHEC-T-ML at 5:30 p.m. while the JV girls from both teams will start their contest at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, Dec. 29, the JV girls consolation game will be at 1 p.m. and the JV girls tournament championship game will take place at 3 p.m. The JV boys will meet up in the consolation round at 5:30 p.m., with the title game coming at 7:30 p.m.
