County EDA sees resignation

June 24, 2018
Robert Brewer - Register Staff Writer , Faribault County Register

The Faribault County Economic Development Authority accepted the resignation of former board member Tony Trussell at the last EDA meeting, which was held in Winnebago on June 19.

In an email addressed to EDA chairman John Herman on the day of the board meeting, Trussell submitted notice of his intention to resign. The resignation, effective immediately, comes less than one year since Trussell was appointed to the board.

"I have in fact been struggling for some time to find a way to add value to the board. As best as I can discern, the Faribault County EDA is pursuing strategies and priorities for which I have little interest or energy.

As such, it seems best for me to resign and open the seat for someone who will contribute with greater enthusiasm" Trussell's email stated.

Meanwhile, Herman did not indicate the board had an immediate replacement for the vacancy.

Also at the meeting, Community and Economic Development Associates representative Mary Kennedy reported she will be working on the marketing and promotion of Minnesota Manufacturing Week.

Taking place during the first week in October, Manufacturing Week allows students and job seekers an opportunity to learn more about possible career options in manufacturing.

In an effort to incentivize more businesses to get involved in Manufacturing Week, the EDA passed a motion to provide $250, or half of the cost of registration, for up to four businesses within the county.

The EDA will have a special meeting to discuss staffing and budgetary concerns in Blue Earth on July 17.
