They continued to enjoy dancing throughout their marriage. Together they raised eight children and farmed for almost 40 years in the Delavan area. She was also a talented embroiderer. Evelyn was known for her beautiful penmanship and wrote many special letters to her grandchildren. George preceded Evelyn in death in August, 1987. After his death, Evelyn reconnected with M.C. Hardy, a high school friend. They were married on June 28, 1993. The couple lived in Apple Valley and Lakeville, and in their new life together they enjoyed traveling and dancing. M.C. died in August, 2017. Evelyn maintained her connection to her rural background and liked sightseeing drives through the country, especially during harvest season. Evelyn's family was extremely important to her.
