Girls gain split in early season action

Defeat Maple River but fall to Fairmont at Minn-Iowa course

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls golf team shaved 12 strokes off their team score from the day before, but still fell to the Fairmont Cardinals in a triangular meet held last Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Minn-Iowa Golf Course near Elmore.

The Bucs shot a 191 as a team, better than their 203 the day before, but still lost to the Cards who shot a team total 170.

The Bucs were led by Mateja Lane who came in with a 42 score. Both Maddie Armon and Clair Jordan carded identical 49s and Serina Wirth added a 51 for BEA's team tally of 191.

Olivia Stewart shot a 55 and Lyndsey Borris a 58 to round out the varsity scoring for the Bucs.

Fairmont was led by Bergen Senf who shot a 38 and was medalist for the meet. She was followed by Maggy Totzke with a 40, Annika Haugen with a 42 and Isabell Geiger a 44 for the Cards 170 team tally.

Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman had an incomplete team score, with only two golfers participating. Amber Stein shot a 76 and Lexie Flohrs carded a 77.

Liz Beeler led the Buccaneer junior varsity players with a 51, while Payton Smith scored a 54 and Jordan Smith a 57.

BEA 203, Maple River 270

The Buccaneer girls golf team started the season off on the right foot with a 203-270 victory over the Maple River Eagles on Monday, April 8, on the Minn-Iowa Golf Course in Elmore.

It was their first meet of the year.

Leading the way for the Bucs was Mateja Lane, who came in with a 45, which was good for medalist honors for the meet.

Clair Jordan was second for BEA with a score of 50, while Serina Wirth added a 53 and Maddie Armon a 55 for the Bucs' team total of 203.

Other varsity players included Olivia Stewart with a 57 and Lyndsey Borris with a 60.

Maple River was led by Makenzie Walther with a 64, followed by Faith Hope with a 65, Olivia Pfeffer with 69 and Rachel Fields with 72.

The Bucs had 13 junior varsity players on the course. Leading the way was Kylie Rosenau shot a 56, followed by Liz Beeler and Jordan Smith shooting 59 each, and Payton Smith with a 61.
