Just back from a trip to the State Class A Tennis Tournament, the Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls tennis team learned five of their members were named to the Big South Conference East Division All-Conference List.

The five Buccaneers are Ta Armstrong, Macie Stevermer, McKenna Dutton, Britt Howard and Arika Howard. Stevermer is a senior, while the other four are all juniors.

For most of the season, Armstrong played at No. 1 singles, Stevermer at No. 2 singles, Arika Howard at No. 3 singles and Dutton and Britt Howard played at No. 1 doubles.

"These five all-conference girls have given the Buc tennis team a lot of wins throughout their tennis careers," notes their coach, Konny Wolff. "Arika went all season undefeated as a singles player, Macie and Ta have only had a few losses as singles players, and McKenna and Britt also have had only a couple of losses all year at No. 1 doubles."

The Buccaneers as a team took first place in the East Division of the Big South Conference. Then they faced off against West Division champion St. James and won, giving the Buccaneers the overall BSC championship.

"All five of these all-conference girls have been out for tennis since seventh grade and have all been key by giving the Buccaneers tennis team many wins over their years of playing," Coach Wolff said. "Macie, being our senior co-captain, will be greatly missed next year.
