The boys basketball game last Tuesday night, Feb. 4, between the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers and the Windom Eagles, was close for the first few minutes of the contest.

But, then the Buccaneers' offense started to score, and the Buc defense tightened up on the Eagles.

The game ended up not being close at all, with BEA taking a 75-37 win on their home court.

BEA took a close game and quickly built up a 10 point, 15-5 lead which continued to grow throughout the first half.

A couple of 3-pointers by the Bucs' Cameron Anderson at the end of the first half one of which hit the basket right at the buzzer gave the Maroon and Gold a very comfortable 39-17 lead at the end of the first stanza.

BEA's domination continued throughout the second half. With the Bucs ahead by nearly 40 points most of the half, running time was instituted for the final nine minutes of the contest.

The Bucs lead was at 67-28 with about nine minutes left. at the six minute mark BEA was liberally substituting, and 13 Buccaneer players were in the game by the end.

The stats show the domination of the Bucs.

BEA was 26 of 39 from two point range while Windom was 8 of 20. From beyond the arc, the Bucs made 7 of 23 3-point attempts, while the Eagles were 2 of 14.

BEA had 22 points off turnovers to Windom's six, outrebounded the Eagles 34 to 21 and had 16 steals to their three.

The Bucs ended up with three players in double figures for scoring.

For the Eagles, their leading scorer was Dylan Serreyn with 12 points.

Next up for the Buccaneers was a game at Fairmont this past Friday, Feb. 7. Details on that contest will be in the next week's edition of the Faribault County Register.

BEA 61, LS-H 57

While the Le Sueur-Henderson Giants were ahead almost the entire game, it is who is in the lead when the final buzzer sounds that counts.

And on Friday night, Jan. 31, the team with the most points at the end of the game were the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers.

The Bucs won 61-57, despite trailing all game until the very end.

Leading the Bucs by as much as 14 points, the Giants were ahead 35-28 at the end of the first half. But, in the second stanza, the Buccaneers held the Giants to just 22 points, while scoring 33 of their own, and the big comeback was complete.
