Betty Kuhn

Mapleton Betty A. (Ihle) Kuhn, age 85, of Mapleton, formerly of Blue Earth, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Mapleton Community Home.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, a memorial service will be held at a later date at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Burial will take place at Rosehill Cemetery in Winnebago.

Betty was born on June 25, 1934 in Bricelyn, the daughter of Alfred and Mildred (Holm) Ihle. She was raised and educated in Elmore, graduating in 1952. Betty married Dale Kuhn on July 5, 1952 in Blue Earth. She and Dale lived in St. John’s Newfoundland where Dale was stationed during the Korean Conflict. The couple moved to the Kuhn family farm in 1956. In 1967, the family moved into town in Blue Earth. After all their children entered school, Betty began working with the school kitchen in Blue Earth and continued until her retirement as head cook in 1996. Betty and Dale enjoyed wintering in Texas and spending summers at a lake cabin in Richmond. After Dale’s death in 2004, Betty married Raymond “Buss” Ankeny in 2006.

Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, involved in circle, bible study, and working at the church’s fair stand. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed following the Twins and Vikings, playing cards, crocheting, and crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Betty is survived by five of her six children, Alice (Rory) Telander, of Laramie, Wyoming, Kenneth Kuhn, of Stewartville, Cheri (Richard) Martin, of Perham, Koni (Norm) Preston, of Mapleton, and John (MaryJo) Kuhn, of Blue Earth; siblings, Bonnie (Jim) Lambert, of Las Vegas, Nevada and JoAnn Seibert, of Laguna Niguel, California; brother-in-law, Wayne Ternberg, of Mondovi, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Lela Kuhn, of Fulton, Texas, and Patty Ihle, of Arizona; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; husband, Buss; son, Douglas; sister, Alice and brother, Dean; three grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law.
